S2 games hopes that offering it free to its customers in an offline mode setting, will encourage gamers to play the game and get a feel for it. Then after the player has enjoyed their time, they can purchase the full version which includes the ever so important multiplayer matches that make this game so much fun.

The full cost of this bad boy is only $29.99, which to me is a bargain for a good game. Other features available to the players who purchase the game will be character building, saved stats, and persistent items and experiences.

According to a recent interview S2 is quoted to have said, "We pride ourselves on being truly independent and basing many of our decisions on how our fans will benefit," said S2 Games co-founder and lead designer Marc DeForest. "By offering a fully functional game as a free download, it will give gamers an opportunity to 'test drive' Savage 2 before actually paying for an account and playing online. As gamers, we know we would appreciate that kind of treatment ourselves, so it's only right that we do unto others."

Now you might think, wow this sounds different, but if you have been following the news, S2 is also the same company that recently announced that it would forego traditional publishers and independently distribute the game online.
